Organic Rooibos Tea | Red, Green & Flavoured

Rooibos

A much-loved drink from South Africa, rooibos comes from a shrub native to the region. Low in tannins and naturally caffeine-free, it can be enjoyed at any time of day. Its infusion is mellow and gently sweet, with vanilla-like notes. Enjoy it pure or in blends created in our workshop. Red or green, depending on the processing method, each style has its own character.

What is rooibos?

Rooibos comes from the South African shrub Aspalathus linearis. It is unrelated to Camellia sinensis, the plant from which tea is made. Because rooibos contains no caffeine, it is a great choice for an afternoon or evening drink. We love it in comforting blends such as our Forest Fruits, Cape Town and Christmas Rooibos.

What is the difference between red and green rooibos?

Red rooibos is the best-known version. Its reddish colour develops during oxidation, which also creates a rounder, sweeter flavour. Green rooibos is dried before significant oxidation occurs and has a fresher, more herbal character with hints of citrus.

What makes rooibos distinctive?

Rooibos is naturally free from caffeine and generally lower in tannins than traditional teas. Both red and green varieties are enjoyed for their characteristic flavour and the variety they bring to caffeine-free drinks.
