Our forest fruit rooibos recipe
Love red berries and rooibos? Our organic Forest Fruits Rooibos is for you. Colourful, deliciously fruity and a little nostalgic, it recalls strawberry tartlets and tangy childhood sweets – a treat for the senses.
We start with organic red rooibos from a certified South African farm, chosen for its naturally gentle, vanilla-like notes. The base pairs perfectly with natural forest fruit flavouring. We then add real freeze-dried and dried red berries for a sweet yet pleasantly tart character.
To complete the blend, we mix in delicate cornflower petals, whose colour contrasts beautifully with the deep red rooibos. For more about how rooibos is grown and prepared, visit our blog.
Preparation and tasting
How to brew Forest Fruits Rooibos
- Hot infusion: steep 3 g in 30 cl of water heated to 95°C for 5–10 minutes. Rooibos is naturally low in tannins, so it is less likely than black tea to become bitter if brewed for longer.
- Cold infusion: infuse in the fridge for at least 2 hours, then strain and serve chilled.
When to enjoy forest fruit rooibos
Soft, fruity and naturally caffeine-free, this rooibos is lovely hot or cold, from breakfast through to the evening. It is a flavourful alternative to conventional tea for anyone wishing to avoid caffeine.
About rooibos
Rooibos is a South African plant, Aspalathus linearis, that is brewed as an infusion rather than a true tea. It naturally contains plant polyphenols and is free from caffeine. Its low tannin content and mellow flavour are among the reasons it is so popular.
Traditionally appreciated as an everyday drink, rooibos can be enjoyed according to your taste, plain or lightly sweetened. It is not a substitute for medical advice or treatment.
