Our organic Assam black tea
From the lush tea-growing region of Assam in north-eastern India, this black tea offers a wonderfully strong, malty character with notes of wood, spice and honey. Its robust, lightly tannic flavour is what many tea drinkers associate with a traditional British breakfast tea.
Our organically grown Assam is graded FTGFOP1, a quality designation associated with finely picked leaves and tips. We also use this reliable, full-bodied tea as a base for several of our own flavoured black tea blends.
Brewing and serving
Prepare with hot water according to the guide above until the infusion develops a rich, deep colour. Its bold flavour works beautifully on its own or with a splash of milk; add a little honey if you prefer. Assam is particularly enjoyable at breakfast or with a hearty afternoon snack.
From leaf to black tea
Tea leaves are carefully withered, rolled and oxidised under controlled conditions before drying. Oxidation helps develop the tea's distinctive dark colour, rich body and malty fragrance. Tea cultivation has become an important part of Assam's regional history and economy. Black tea naturally contains caffeine.
