Our organic Pu Erh tea from Yunnan
Pu Erh is a traditional Chinese dark tea named after the town of Pu'er in Yunnan province. Produced from Camellia sinensis leaves, it develops its distinctive deep colour and earthy aroma through microbial post-fermentation. The cup reveals notes of forest floor, wood and damp earth, making it quite different from conventional black tea.
Pu Erh is available as loose leaves and traditionally as compressed cakes; our range includes a 357 g tea cake. Tea enthusiasts also appreciate how some carefully stored Pu Erh teas evolve over time.
From everyday brewing to gongfu tea
For a standard infusion, use the indicated quantity of leaves with hot water and adjust the steeping time to taste. Pu Erh is also well suited to gongfu cha: use a smaller vessel, a relatively generous quantity of leaves and a series of short infusions to explore how the aroma develops.
Production and storage
Dark tea undergoes processing and controlled microbial transformation that create its smooth, earthy profile. Keep your Pu Erh away from strong odours and excessive moisture, with conditions appropriate for tea storage. Enjoy it after a meal or when you fancy a distinctive, full-bodied cup. Its traditional reputation should not be mistaken for proven health benefits.
