Organic French peppermint
Our organic peppermint (Mentha × piperita) is grown in Vendée, France. We select this intensely aromatic plant both for its wonderfully refreshing taste and to support French producers whenever possible. Around twelve kilograms of fresh mint are needed to obtain one kilogram of sorted dried leaves.
Peppermint is immediately recognisable by its lively, cooling aroma. It is lovely brewed on its own and also brings freshness to many of our Chabiothé tea and herbal blends.
From teapot to kitchen
Steep the leaves according to the preparation guide for a warming infusion with a long, cool finish. You can also blend the leaves with green tea to make an aromatic mint tea, sweetening it if you wish. In cooking, mint adds fragrance to tabbouleh, salads, fruit salads, vegetables and desserts.
Traditions and flavour
Mint has featured in culinary and herbal traditions for centuries. Its distinctive cooling sensation comes from naturally occurring aromatic compounds, notably menthol. Peppermint is commonly enjoyed after meals, though an infusion should not be considered a remedy for digestive or respiratory problems.
