Our organic Chinese Sencha green tea
Sencha is one of the most recognisable styles of green tea. Although closely associated with Japan, our organically grown Sencha comes from China. Its carefully processed leaves offer a fresh, pleasantly grassy cup with a soft vegetal finish.
Because of its balanced and delicate character, Sencha is delicious on its own and forms the base of many of our fruity and floral Chabiothé green tea recipes.
How to brew Sencha
Use water around 80°C rather than boiling water and infuse for about three minutes. This helps bring out the fresh vegetal notes without excessive bitterness. Enjoy plain or alongside light savoury food, pastries or a morning snack.
How it is produced
Green tea leaves are heated soon after picking to slow oxidation, then shaped and dried. The leaf appearance and method vary according to origin and producer. Sencha has become a popular everyday tea thanks to its clean, refreshing character. Like all green teas it naturally contains caffeine and polyphenols.
