Our refreshing organic hibiscus and citrus infusion
Looking for a refreshing ❄️, flavourful, caffeine-free drink with no added sugar to sip during the summer? Meet our Organic Citrus Refresh infusion, a naturally tangy blend of hibiscus and lemon designed to be enjoyed cold.
Inspired by bissap, the traditional African hibiscus drink, this recipe puts hibiscus centre stage. Its vibrant dried calyces give the infusion a deep ruby colour and lively, fruity tartness. We complement them with organic orange and lemon peel, which adds aromatic citrus notes and a pleasing hint of bitterness.
We wanted a simple alternative to many commercially prepared iced teas, which can contain large amounts of added sugar or sweeteners. For a naturally rounded flavour, we add pieces of cinnamon bark, bringing gentle warmth and a subtly sweet impression without added sugar.
In 2024, we updated the recipe to include lemongrass. Its fresh citrus aroma gives the infusion an extra summery lift.
Preparation and serving suggestions
How to prepare Citrus Refresh
❄️ Add 2 g of the blend to 30 cl of cold water and leave to infuse in the fridge for at least 2 hours. Serve chilled. For an even fruitier drink, add fresh mint, lemon slices or other seasonal fruit. Orange wedges and star anise also make it a wonderfully festive alcohol-free drink.
When should you enjoy it?
Created with summer in mind, our hibiscus and citrus infusion is especially enjoyable on warm days. Naturally free from caffeine and without added sugar, it makes a refreshing alternative to many ready-made iced drinks for anyone seeking something less sweet.
About our hibiscus infusion
Hibiscus makes up 45% of this blend. It brings the characteristic ruby colour and lively tart taste, alongside naturally occurring plant compounds. For more about the hibiscus plant and its traditional uses, explore our Chabiothé blog.
