Organic liquorice root sticks from Calabria
Rediscover the distinctive sweet, earthy flavour of traditional liquorice root sticks. Our organically grown roots (Glycyrrhiza glabra) come from Calabria in southern Italy. The roots are harvested, washed, dried in the sun and cut before being sorted and packed at our workshop in Lyon.
The sticks are approximately 13 cm long, with a natural variation in thickness. They can be gently chewed for their characteristic taste, used in an infusion or added to certain recipes. Liquorice is also part of our after-dinner herbal blend and mulled wine spice mix.
Ways to use liquorice
Chew a small piece to discover the root's naturally sweet and slightly bitter flavour, or use small amounts to flavour a tea, custard or syrup. Liquorice has a long history in European confectionery and traditional herbal preparations.
Important precautions
Liquorice can raise blood pressure and affect potassium levels. Avoid regular or large consumption if you have high blood pressure, heart or kidney problems, or are pregnant. It can also interact with medicines. Ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure whether liquorice is suitable for you.
